A golden retriever stands with its front paws up on an open car hood, holding a wrench between its teeth like it’s about to tighten a bolt. That’s the moment this short video is built around, and it’s exactly as charming as it sounds.
What happens in the video
The dog is set up in a garage, paws resting on a towel draped over the edge of the open hood, right next to a car battery and a couple of cordless power tools. A wrench is balanced in its mouth, and the dog looks straight at the camera with the kind of calm, proud expression you’d expect from someone who just solved the problem themselves.
Earlier footage shows the same dog up close, nose practically touching the lens, which feels like the setup before the “big reveal” of the garage scene.
Who’s behind the camera
Later in the clip, a man in a backwards cap and gray pullover appears indoors, first relaxing on a couch with a toy in hand, then walking through a doorway toward the camera. He’s clearly the one behind this whole bit, cutting between the dog’s garage “work” and a few moments of regular life at home.
Why it works
There’s no actual car repair happening here. It’s a quick, staged gag that plays on how expressive golden retrievers can look when they’re holding something in their mouth, especially when that something happens to be a tool instead of a tennis ball.
It’s a simple, 58-second home video, and it doesn’t need to be more than that.
